On the 2nd February 2009, a meeting was held at the Harbour Room to discuss how we can use the facility to help the local community and stimulate enterprise through the opening of a Rural Homework Centre and at the same time this would bring income to the Harbour Room at times when it is currently under used.
With the support of organisations like the Centre for Social Justice, the UEA and Stirling University it is hoped that we can stimulate job creation, skills sharing and training opportunities as well as offering new facilities for the use of the community.
Amongst many exciting plans, it is hoped that we can offer the young people of Blakeney some exciting and new activities, we hope to offer support and guidance for young families as well as events for the elderly and those who live in remote locations.
We are meeting again to take our thoughts forward and to start putting plans into action at the beginning of March. Watch this space!
